Section 1 of 6: Targeting

Targeting

1.Do you have a documented target-account profile based on actual customer evidence?
2.Can you identify the buying roles you need inside target accounts?

This is an educational self-assessment, not an audit, benchmark, deliverability test or prediction of sales results. The scoring has not been validated empirically, and the band names are editorial labels, not probabilities. Your answers stay in your browser.

What it measures

Six areas, two questions each. The weights show how much each area counts toward the total of 100.

The six scorecard areas and their weights
AreaWeightWhat it asks
Targeting20Whether you know which accounts to pursue and which roles to reach inside them.
Offer and proof15Whether the offer and the message rest on real customer and problem evidence.
Data15Whether records are verified and maintained, and whether opt-outs and exclusions are respected.
Infrastructure15Whether someone has verified the sending setup and watches for delivery problems.
Execution15Whether outreach, replies and follow-up are owned, and whether tests change the plan.
Qualification and handoff20Whether SDRs and Sales agree what to accept, and whether you can trace meetings to opportunities.

How scoring works

Each answer is worth 0, 1 or 2 points. An area's score is its two answers divided by 4, times its weight, so one B and one C in Targeting is 15 of 20. Not sure scores 0 and is shown separately as unverified, because not knowing is a task to check, not a confirmed failure. Bands use the unrounded total.

The four bands

  • 0 to under 40: Build the foundations. Several basics are missing or unverified. Fixing these first is likely to matter more than adding outreach volume.
  • 40 to under 70: Close the gaps. Some of the system is in place. The gaps below are the most likely places for outbound to stall.
  • 70 to under 85: Prepare a controlled pilot. Most of the system is in place. Run a small, documented pilot and review it before scaling volume.
  • 85 to 100: Ready to test and monitor. The basics are in place. Keep testing in controlled steps and keep reviewing real outcomes.

Editorial labels, not probability estimates.

The twelve questions

Read all twelve before you start
  1. Do you have a documented target-account profile based on actual customer evidence?
  2. Can you identify the buying roles you need inside target accounts?
  3. Is the offer supported by real customer and problem evidence?
  4. Does messaging connect a specific buyer problem to a credible next step?
  5. Are account and contact records verified and maintained?
  6. Are exclusions, opt-outs and existing relationships respected across channels?
  7. Has someone verified the email and channel setup before outreach scales?
  8. Do you monitor delivery and reputation issues, and know when to pause?
  9. Are outreach, replies and follow-up owned and coordinated?
  10. Do you run controlled tests and use the results to change the plan?
  11. Have SDRs and Sales agreed what they will accept?
  12. Can you track the progression from booked meetings to real opportunities?

Frequently asked questions

Is the scorecard an audit or a benchmark?

No. It is an educational self-assessment. It is not an audit, a benchmark, a deliverability test or a prediction of sales results, and the scoring has not been validated empirically.

What does Not sure do to my score?

It scores zero for that question, but it is shown separately as unverified rather than as a confirmed failure. The advice for it is to verify, not to fix.

Are my answers stored or sent anywhere?

No. Your answers stay in your browser while you use the page. They are not stored, not sent to a server and not placed in the address.

Does a high score mean I should scale?

Not on its own. The bands are editorial labels, not probabilities. Even a high score shows maintenance steps, and a few answers trigger a caution regardless of the total.
